TRPM’s general meeting, held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Olde Philadelphia Inn in Rosedale, MD, was called to order by President Pat McElroy at 7:11 pm. Introductions were made around the room. Betty Cornwell said the blessing. Wayne Sullivan led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Handouts included Agenda, Board of Directors Goals for the Year, Survey (any comments,
problems, suggestions write on the last page and send to Betty), MD Dept. of Assessments and Taxation explaining money available to small businesses for training, etc., MD Tax Update for 2019, Free Quickbooks Seminar, Apps for Paperless DVIR.
Maryland State Police stored vehicles – the MSP must provide a CS-78 for vehicles they
requested to be towed, whether for storage or not. There is a form that you must fill out to verify that you made all notifications required before a CS-78 can be issued. Most barracks are not in unison yet, but this is something that is useable and is working. Contact Pat McElroy for copies of this form.
Any time you have something coming up in your county that you have concerns over, please
contact Betty Cornwell, Jeff Hurley, or Pat McElroy. Without it being brought to our attention, we might not know what’s going on in other counties.
MSP Regulations have been returned with our comments and suggestions, but no action will
be taken until after the elections in November.
Towers have the means to get paid for vehicles towed with liability only insurance. It’s a little
time consuming to get started, but the MD Insurance Commissioner is behind the towers on this. Contact Wayne Sullivan or Jeff Hurley for more detailed information on how to write letters and deal with insurance companies.
Deb Sullivan thanked all of the associate members for their support this past year. Their
generous donations help pay for the Annual Meet n Greet in December and our lobbyist, to name just a few.
December Meet n Greet is December 5, 2018 at Michael’s 8th Avenue in Glen Burnie. This a
great opportunity for the towers to have some one on one with our associate members.
Our guest speakers were Matt Bauer and Kareem Garrison from Sprint. Did you know that
push to talk is still available and it’s able to work through your blue tooth? Sprint’s Direct Connect is able to work in places that other carriers don’t. Spireon is their ELD product.
A Spirit Ride is taking place on November 13, 2018 from PG County to the M&T Stadium in
Baltimore. For more information contact John Collins, Morton’s Towing.
National Move Over Day is Saturday, October 20th. The group of towers, known as the
Maryland Towers, doesn’t have anything planned for this year. They are starting to plan for next year.
Wayne Sullivan won the 50/50 for $130. Door prizes were won by Violet Houston, of First
National Bank, and Birkhart’s Towing. The Big Money winner for September was Bonnie Ennis with ticket #90. October’s winner was Todd Collette with ticket #027. Both winners won $500.
Respectfully submitted by Barbara Beatty, TRPM Secretary
